The Wedding Present are a British indie rock group based in Leeds, England, formed in 1985 by David Gedge, Peter Solowka, Shaun Charman and Keith Gregory. Gedge and Gregory had previously been in a band called The Lost Pandas. Gedge, a guitarist and songwriter and Gregory, a bassist soon recuited Solowka on guitar and Charman on bass and started recornding songs. The first songle Go Out and Get 'Em Boy was released on the band's own Reception Records label. Reasonable success with this first release led to two more singles Once More and This Boy Can Wait. By now they were becoming favourites of the indie scene and were championed by among others, John Peel.
The first album, George Best was releasd in 1987 to ciritical acclaim.
